This is absolutely my favourite series of all time. I have been reading and re-reading for 12 years now! The story is engaging from the beginning, drawing you in to a world that is so similar yet so different to our own. The characters become your friends and family, they are so real that I miss them when I have gone too long without reading the novels.The only down fall for me is that of every other Obernewtyn fan - it still isn't finished! Isobelle Carmody, if you are reading this by any chance, PLEASE finish the final book! I need closure :)

Excellent book. I have struggled with reading my whole life due to being dyslexic and i have read the whole series eagerly twice now. This is the best story i have ever read or watched in the movies. Much love to isobelle. You are a fantastic author.
I read Obernewtyn probably 10 years ago, it is still probably my favourite book of the series and I read it probably twice a year since then and I'm not sick of it yet! I wait impatiently for the next book in the series each time and am usually at the bookstore the first day it is released. The story in Obernewtyn is good for anyone from early teens up and the books get more complex/depth as you read more of the series. It is an incredibly well done blend of post-nuclear fiction with fantasy/paranormal.
I read this book for the first time in high school and loved it, i've since read the whole series more times than i can remember- it rates up there with my favourite books of all time.
Definately give it a go especially if you like post apocalyptic books, the only drawback is that the series isnt actually finished, still one more to come apparently which they are saying is next year but publishers promises i've come to realise are like politicians.
Anyway dont let the lack of last book hold you back-its still an amazing series -well worth the read.
Obernewtyn is the start of a spectacular series that always leaves the reader hungry for more. it is written incredibly beautifully and the plot twists and turns at all the right places. i admit, when i first read obernewtyn, i was a little bored because the plot just wasn't interesting enough for me. the beginning information is crucial, because it describes the basis for the entire series and provides the reason for its post apocolyptic setting. it describes elspeth as an orphan in a ruined world. i find that only at the end of the book does the story start to pick up a bit, because earlier it was going too slow. however, i peresevered through the whole book, which actually is very small in comparison to the rest of the series, and i came to the farseekers, which is such an amazing book. ashling, the third in the series, is by far one of the best books i have ever read! so, having said that, obrnewtyn may bore you like it did me, but please continue with the rest of the series, you will definetely NOT be disapointed!!! there is fantasy comedy so much adventure and action and even a touch of romance just in the right places. obernewtyn is a truelly beautifully written novel, and, while also a little older than the books i would like to read, thank God it's nothing like Twilight or hush hush or any other soppy romance vampire things like vampire academy and morganville vampires!!! the genre is like trudi canavan's blck magician trilogy, the plot like the hunger games but better, and the writing like harry potter in the way that it cant be put down and simply unique in the way that it is one of the most beautiful things ever written. read on. trust me.
I have read this book many times, usually when a new one comes out and I enjoy it every single time. Isobelle Carmody has written a book that will be read for many years to come
obernewtyn no 1 just had a visit from a grandson who is reading no 4 this story has captured my interest so will look at more books .Ilike the way the story has progressed so far . Ibuy books that can hold my interest all the way through such as this one
Book 1 of a really good fantasy series, love the stoy and the characters, really well written. Looking forward to the rest coming out on so I can have the whole series on my ereader as well as in a hard cover set.
